About me

James Fagan Poet

I began writing my first poem when I was a young man working as a shepherd at Valley Road, Pohangina, New Zealand. However, more than thirty years lapsed before I began to make a more serious attempt at writing poetry. Some of my poems have been published in the Poetry New Zealand Journal, the historical Memories Magazine and the historical Heritage Matters Magazine. Many of my history articles have also featured in the latter two magazines.

I have been involved in theatre and hope you enjoy my Elizabethan Recitals Blog.

Because I have worked in a wide range of employment I have had many topics to consider as writing matter. Over the years my employment has included working on building sites, being a postman, contributing as a mental health worker and working as a general health worker.

I have recited my poetry at over sixty schools throughout the North and South Island of New Zealand as well as at pubs, libraries and at marae.
